Mr. Mohammed Muzzammil Kuddus​

Mr. Mohammed Muzzammil Kuddus, brings over two decades of diverse professional experience to the Al-Madinah Trust Charter School Board. He began his career in accounting and transitioned into the recruitment industry, where he has successfully led and managed career development for over 20 years. His unique combination of financial acumen and human capital expertise strengthens the governance of the Trust, especially in areas of strategic planning, staff development, and community engagement. Mr. Mohammed Muzzammil Kuddus, has actively contributed to the education sector, notably presenting on career management to the Chartered Accountants of New Zealand and teaching in Tokyo, Japan, while working with Robert Walters Japan. His international perspective and passion for Islamic education have been instrumental in shaping the school’s direction.

Mr. Asin Ali

Board Member – Al-Madinah Trust
Educational Leader | Community Builder | Strategic Visionary


Mr. Asin Ali is a pioneering figure in Islamic education in New Zealand, having served on the Al-Madinah School Board for over 30 years. With a foundation in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in halal supervision across the country, Mr. Asin Ali transitioned into education in 1992 and has since become a pillar of the community and a leader in faith-based schooling. He played a key role in the establishment and development of Al-Madinah School, serving as a teaching principal and building the institution from the ground up. Under his stewardship, the school flourished—achieving full enrolment with a significant waiting list—while fostering a values-based environment rooted in Islamic ethics.

Mr. Mustafa Basarat Ali​

Board Member – Al-Madinah Trust
Youth & Community Advocate


Mr. Mustafa Basarat Ali brings a well-rounded and dynamic professional background to the Al-Madinah Trust Board. With expertise spanning civil engineering, construction management, quality systems, and youth mentorship, he plays a vital role in guiding the strategic and operational vision of the school. Starting his career as a Graduate Site Engineer at Dempsey Wood, Mr. Mustafa Basarat Ali quickly progressed to Project Manager, leading the delivery of large-scale subdivision projects (500+ residential lots) involving more than 40 staff. His leadership in managing earthworks, drainage, roading, utilities, and surveying reflects deep technical knowledge and practical experience. He later advanced to serve as the Systems Quality Manager for Ventia’s Transport division across New Zealand. Mr. Mustafa Basarat Ali is also actively involved in Islamic community development, having served with the Rasheed Memorial Dawah Trust and several other youth-focused initiatives, where he contributes to ecological and social well-being programs.

Mr. Mohammed Jalal Ud Dean Ashraf

Board Member – Al-Madinah Trust
Community Corrections Leader | Muslim Wellbeing Advocate


Mr. Mohammed Jalal Ud Dean Ashraf brings over 30 years of governance experience as a dedicated trustee of the Islamic Educational and Dawah (IED) Trust. He is a foundational figure in New Zealand’s Islamic educational landscape and has played a vital role in the establishment of both Al-Madinah School and Zayed College. A seasoned school teacher with significant teaching experience across New Zealand, Mr. Ashraf has served as a Proprietor Trustee since 1992, shaping the vision and operational foundations of Islamic schooling in the country.

Beyond education, Mr. Ashraf has held multiple senior leadership roles within community corrections and Muslim wellbeing services. His work as a manager, and later as a clinical and operational team lead for Muslim Wellbeing in Ōtautahi (Christchurch), reflects his deep commitment to the spiritual, mental, and social wellbeing of the Muslim community.

Dr. Aamina Ali

   Board Member – Al-Madinah Trust Charter School
Clinical Psychologist | Educator | Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader


Dr. Aamina Ali is a registered Clinical Psychologist and experienced educator with a strong background in both the education and mental health sectors. She has worked as a secondary school teacher, student guidance counsellor, and mental health educator, bringing a holistic perspective to student wellbeing and learning environments. As founder of PsychologyNZ, Dr. Aamina combines clinical expertise, management experience and cultural insight to support individual wellbeing and organisational growth.

Her extensive experience includes working within Te Whatu Ora community mental health services, NGOs, and private practice, where she has provided psychological support across a diverse range of clients and settings. She has also led mental health education workshops and served as a liaison between schools and health services, ensuring that students receive appropriate, timely support. Dr. Aamina’s dual expertise in education and clinical psychology positions her as a valuable asset in shaping inclusive, effective, and community-rooted education strategies.

Dr. Aamina is the founder and principal psychologist of PsychologyNZ a mental health and consultancy service that offers: 

  • Comprehensive      mental health support across the lifespan
  • Specialist      clinical consultancy integrating clinical and cultural understandings
  • Consultancy      and strategic advisory to organisations seeking to enhance clinical      service delivery, strengthen wellbeing practices and organisational performance.

Dr. Aamina brings a diverse professional background, combining educational and clinical expertise. Her experience includes:

  • Former      New Zealand secondary school teacher and student guidance counsellor.
  • Registered      Clinical Psychologist with experience in Te Whatu Ora community mental      health, NGOs, and private practice.
  • Leadership      in both clinical and operational management, ensuring culturally      appropriate, efficient, and effective support services.

Mr. Sheikh Hasan Rubel

 Board Member – Al-Madinah Trust Charter School
Registered Tax Advisor | Accountant | Community Leader


Mr. Sheikh Hasan Rubel is a highly qualified and experienced professional with a strong background in accounting, business administration, and community service. With over a decade of leadership experience across New Zealand, the UK, and Bangladesh, he currently serves as a Registered Tax & Business Advisor and Practice Manager at SBA New Brighton & Rolleston in Christchurch, New Zealand. Mr. Rubel’s financial expertise, combined with his commitment to community development, makes him a vital asset to the governance of Al-Madinah Trust


Educational & Sector Involvement:

Mr. Rubel holds a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Canterbury, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award and selected as a Student Mentor. He also completed an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK) and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), majoring in marketing. He has worked in various accounting roles in New Zealand, including Practice Manager at SBA, Accountant at BR & SE Jack Ltd, and Accounts Assistant at Mobil. His academic and career path is enriched with international exposure, having served in senior roles in the UK, including as Area Manager at Subway and HR Manager at Boots Pharmacy.


Leadership & Community Contributions:

A respected community advocate, Mr. Rubel is the President of the Bangladeshi Community of Canterbury Incorporated (BCCI) and Treasurer of the Muslim Business Association of Aotearoa New Zealand (MBAANZ). He has been a community representative on the Ministry of Social Development’s Community Impact Board and was formerly Vice President of the University of Canterbury Muslim Student Association. His leadership within these organizations reflects his dedication to social cohesion, cultural representation, and empowering migrant communities through education and business development.
